#784148 NSW Historic and Classic Vehicle Rego

Posted by ivanflo on 16 April 2019 - 11:11 AM

RightO,

So I ended up joining the NSW Historic Muscle Club.

The process was fairly straight forward all in all:

  1. Got a blue slip done for the XE
  2. signed up & paid membership to/for the club online and had a form sent to me
  3. filled out said form
  4. sent said form to the club along with my engineering papers, ID, car photos.
  5. In return they sent me a Historic vehicle form with the required signatures etc, which is technically the wrong form. But the RMS didn't seem to care.
  6. Took all this to the RMS with my old plates. De-registered my full rego and filled a few forms to move on to the classic vehicle scheme, got some plates and it was all done.

All up the process took about a week in total.

#782486 MC racing wheels and offsets

Posted by ivanflo on 31 October 2016 - 10:00 AM

I have a set of 20x8.5? and 20X9.5? inch MC Racing wheels, (90% sure those are the right widths). 265's on the back and 245 on the front.

I think 20's look great on a X falcon, but the ride is fairly rough

Hit wes or top class tyres up on FB, they are pretty snappy to respond

There are a few different glass mount ones you can try. Some have a peal and stick film you can stick to a window, the one below is a contained unit. The one i used tapped in to the rear demister grid on the back window and required power. I picked it up from Autobarn, but have yet to give it power, its works ok as is, so i never bothered. Got rid of the hole where the antenna usually sits on the front guard along with the rear boot lock when i resprayed the Ghia a year-ish ago now.

#779804 Wheels for the boys! You guys are gonna love these.

Yep, keep your ears to the floor. We're working hard on creating customisable packages to slaughter anything available in the market.

As usual, the MC RACING quality finish and strength to surpass all available too.

I am happy with my current MC 20s.

In the middle of going 393, t56 magnum and perhaps 9 inch.. 3 piece would top it all off nicely I think.

Don't make us wait too long

Ozfalcon has a thread going on the Simmons and naturally the MC comparison was made, these were my thoughts.

The Simmons have an inset implementation of the fake stud/hardware/bolt 'things' (Sorry I don't know the proper term for it) around the face, which I think looks better.  I also like how their spokes are flatter in profile.

Tempe did not have Pre Au offset and said I need spacers (which I am not prepared to use), they also told me there would not be a pre au offset. I found that interesting since they responded to a Facebook Message a couple days earlier and was told by 'SAM' that they are about 4 weeks away, perhaps they were just pushing to make a sale. Their building is flashy though, makes an impression.

I liked that the MC's had the better wheel load rating and prefer their smoother rounded off dish. As i said before the top class boys are... well, top class.

I've since gone through the car and done rotors, pads, booster, ton of bushings/rubbers, bearings, tie rods etc. and finally an alignment. The ride isn't too harsh and you can definitely feel the extra width in the tyres. Thinner tyres mean I have to drive around pot holes and the like, but I was already doing that since it's lowered a fair amount.
I have had only the front right rub once, the guards are rolled, but the car had 5 fatty's in it on a sharpish inclined turn. They certainly turn heads, get the nods, winks, thumbs ups, beeps etc.

sorry to confuse,  I was indeed referring to the simmons, I figured this thread was just directly about MC racing wheels and didn't want to go off on a tangent and start a flame war.

I ended up with a set of 20 Inch MC's in Silver.

255/35 at the back and 245/30 at the front, tyre to wheel fitment looks good. I've had a few mates get ripped off with wheel/tyre package > tyres too narrow and a fat metal wheel lip waiting to kiss a gutter.

The boys at Top Class were down to earth and friendly, MR WRX was around for small talk too.

i have an opinion on the MC Racing VS .... but this isn't the thread for that, I should get some better photos and upload them later

#761997 How to use Removable wheel paint PLASTI-DIP

Posted by ivanflo on 26 June 2013 - 04:06 PM

I just did a wheel in black plastidip. Finished about half and hour ago and it just started raining... :( , will see what it looks like after the rain stops, may have to do it again.

Autobarn is stocking the stuff at $29. Not cheap but what choice do we have.
