andy your the dick mate i have a car with a repo trim in it and its not the same,as for me trying to sell trim i dont think so repo is close but its still not the same

You have always been trying to sell your trim Albert but at your inflated prices you are like Adam and will have your trim til the day you die and what good is it to you then ???

As for Bens trim not being the same as NOS , of course it's not but it's the closest to the original trim as possible and that's why it's called repro trim !!!

Ben has invested over $100K to help other people be able to retrim their cars and not just ESP's so if you can't say anything positive keep your comments to yourself and everyone will be happy and none of this " Bagging " each other will happen !!

First rule on Red Nolathane is don't use it , buy and use Blue Superpro bushes instead as they are more subtle and as they dond perish like the red ones they last longer and don't squeak like the red ones too.

Mate you are about $6000 overpriced !! The tyre in the pic looks unroadworthy for a start and the colour of the center cap doesn't match the rim either.
If some fool offers you $1000 take it cause they aren't worth what you are asking for them !!!!!

a car show isnt worth that many klms on my car,steve as much as i would love to go yeah just bit far out for me,

Don't take this the wrong way Glenn but what a pussy answer that is.
With guys using excuses like that , it's no wonder these events are poorly attended.
I've taken my ESP from Perth to Melb for the 25th anniversary back in 07
and to Adelaide for the 1st Round up which co-inside with the GT Nationals in 09.
Admittedly I trucked it there and back but I still drove it everywhere when there.
Plus one of the guys from here drove his car to Adelaide and back for the Nationals
and his car had just had the engine rebuilt too.

XE mainly, but if the infos there then both


XE is only Fairmont Ghia based and V8's only in 1982.

100 made of 302 4 speed.
260 made of 302 auto.
178 made of 351 4 speed.
There is a poss 351 auto made for someone at Ford as well.

Have no numbers of the 6 cylinders but they were made from 1982 to 1984 in both manual and auto. Carby is the early one and EFI are the later ones.


XD were avail in Falcon based and Ghia based. No one has seen a Fairmont base only version.

250 6 cyl were man and auto.
302 V8 were man and auto.
351 V8 were man and auto.

No confirmed numbers of the XD was published by Ford but is thought to be in the range of 500 to 1500 maybe even 2000 in total.

The Phase 5 was also based on most of the XD ESP's but a few weren't.

Dean can prob add more on the XD's for you.

yeh we hav thought of that, sum peoplesay it will fix it and others say it wont at all, its only has the standard 1800 stall in it, a mate said he would give me a 2500 stall i wouldn go any higher, i really wanna keep it an auto with the c4 but im only reason im thinkin the manual is for the more gears the over drive coz its a everyday car...




Depending on what your cam size is a hi stall is definitely required in an auto.
Unless you are putting a 5 speed manual in you will have exactly the same ratio as your auto because 4th gear is 1-1 just like the auto is.
I run a 2500 stall in my 351 which runs a hyd cam with specs of 272/286 Adv Dur and 230/236 @ 050 with a lift of 562/565 and the diff ratio is 3.50.
This cam only gives me around 5 inches of vac at idle so a std stall won't work with it and if your cam is of a similar size then that could very well be your prob too.

As Brad said they are the same size. The Fairlane has a larger size booster with the same master cylinder though.

Possible that this car will Fech the same price as a XW GTHO and could be the most agreed on best 1979 to 1990 falcon? Does anyone out there own one of these beautiful cars?

Also a XE ESP Ghia 351, very good car!


Never will the XD get the same price as an XW GTHO.


It would only be a yes for the dollar value, Personal pref would be a 351 XE Ghia


They never made a 351 XE Ghia only an XE ESP Ghia was avail in 351. The std Ghia was only avail with the 302.

I'm lucky as I own an XD 351 Ghia and an XE ESP with a 351 crank and rods in the original 302 block.
I prefer the XD for cruising but the XE for power as it's been built that way !!!.........lol.

Stock XE lights with the orange indicators for a white car , if it were a darker colour then the clear lights.

Welcome bloke , and as Gaz has stated if it's an 84 it's not a factory V8 as the last V8's were in Nov. 82 and were 302's. I think the last 351 was in Aug or Sept 82 and being a Ghia also there were NO repeat NO 351 Ghias with autos or manuals.
The only 351 Ghia were in ESP's and they were only manuals not autos.........from the Factory that is.
Only Police Interceptors were available in auto.
There were a very few 351 4spd and auto Falcon S-Pacs.
