Can someone pls tell me what they called these?

From what I have been told there was 500 made - 250 in this colour and 250 in blue over gold.

Mine is a factory 351 Fairmont Ghia with the extras - electric seats, full velour trim

No the Eclipse where only XE. I have found out the 500 only refers to the Fairlane Sportsman.

Option packs/prototypes/limited editions:
Fairlane Sportsman: (Limited Edition) Wool tweed trim, Volante alloy wheels, bonnet ornament, Ford badge in centre of grille, two-tone paint. August 1980, 500 built.

LTD Cartier Edition:(Limited Edition) Cartier ladies purse, travel wallet and key case, Cartier decals, metallic champagne in colour with burgundy pin-striping and accents, matching champagne carpet and a choice of leather or crushed velour upholstery. October 1979 - 1980

Some have said that only a very few of these were ever made in the Ghia versions - I know there is a blue over gold one with a 6cyl and another one like min with a 302. So someone must remember what these were called.

When I spoke with Ford they said the following:

Engine: T - 351
Trans: B - T-Bar Auto
JG32 - Ghia Sedan
Buit Sept 1981

Options:
03-Seat Belts(Mand)
38 - Power Door Locks
95- Unknown

Certainly isnt a cartier - they were limited to LTD's

Its very close to the fairlane Sportsman but only in the 2-tone paint - Sportsmans werent based on LTD interiors.

Its a Sept built 81 maybe it was a special thing put together to get rid of before the XE - after all it has the XE ghia style seat trim with the inserts.

Maybe some 21st Anniversary model - given Ford started in 1960 - 1981 = 21 years

I know what it is. Its an XD Fairmont Ghia Sportsman. My uncle had a rusted out blue over gold behind his house years ago.

I remember that one of yours on ebay.

I think this sort of **** is more for full tech Asian cars whose Engine Managements can launch nuclear weapons and such

No, I think they were from 1974 - the XB series had a sovereign dont remember if there was one released in the XD series

Maybe they ran out of the Fairlane ones and decided to do a few in the Ghia range, although the Failane Sportsman and this one are quite different in specs of interior.

The Fairlane Sportsman: (Limited Edition) Wool tweed trim, Volante alloy wheels, bonnet ornament, Ford badge in centre of grille, two-tone paint. August 1980, 500 built.

Yeah I brought this off the guy down near Bedigo, I had it up for sale a couple of times as I had no where to store it, glad it didnt sell as I now have somewhere to store it and bring it back to its former glory.

What ever it is, it is pretty rare being a factory 351 matching numbers car. I saw a blue over gold on ebay with a 6cyl wanting about 5k.

The only problem with my one is the paint - faded and peeling away on the bonnet, gonna get it repainted - its all there, everything working and with the log books.

Seems like a nice find.

I probs would have done up my uncles or at least salvaged like the seats out of it but I was too young to know back then.

I know what you mean. If I had hung on to the coupes and GT's I have owned over the years I could have retired very rich now for what they are pulling.

I use to buy and sell coupes for $1000 and these werent rusted out ones like those going for $10k.

No one wanted the coupes for a lot of years, I had 5 at one time and couldnt give them away. Strange of how things have changed.

All I have left is the memories and the GT plates from an XB GT that got totalled.

That would make it a one off - there are other ones out there - like the 6cyl blue over gold
so there was a few of these made, not a one off from some knob at Ford
