Thanks to this forum i located the 13ford number and gave them a call, after two days they called me back with some info on the car, it was originaly sold from a dealer in ACT, original colour is burgandy which it is, factory 4speed manual which it is, factory alloy head injected six which it is, and option 54 european sports pack which it appears to be, it has the original scheel seats front and rear, bilstean shocks front and rear and gold snowflakes, i thought the same thing when i first saw it, but im lead to belive the late 83 versions of the esp's did not have two tone paint, black outs on the chrome or orange bumper moulds, they where just a fairmont ghia with seats, wheels, and shockes, but please correct me if this information is incorrect, ill get some more pics up later today, cheers

Can't get more correct than that. The 1983-84 ESP's did not have 2 tone paint or orange moulds.

Regards Joe.

if you have the option 54 stamped on the id tag and you have all the esp options then i dare say it is an esp.

Option 54 isn't by stamped on the car.
Can ONLY be verified Ford Customer service as an option.
Dave.

Only milk and juice should come in two litres :)

No options are stamped on the ID plates, Those are the ADR codes from memory

nice find mate!!! love the hermitage ESP's. and dont worry about everyone who says "its not an esp" or "it doesnt look like an esp". i get that all the time with my 84 esp just because its not two tone or doesn have the orange moulds. if ford verify it as option 54 than you got an esp!!! how did you find it?? im sure everyone is dying to find out

Hi Sam,

Is the car you called me last monday to verify what to look for if its an ESP?

Certainly is a XE ESP Hermitage Red Grey Scheel 4 Speed Manual as the 1983 and 1984 ESP models are all single tones.

The Option 54 in a XE ESP is single tone doesn't not have 2 brake lines if in the EFI motor has Bilisteins Scheels and Gold Snowflakes.

The 1982 version is always and will be worth more than a 1983 1984 model as the orange moulded cars with the two tone hold there value more.

Great buy nice find you always happen to find the barn finds ;)

Reminds me of my old 1984 Hermitage Red ESP that I used to own, my favorite colour in the XD XE range.

Talk soon

Nickd

Hey Nickd, it was my friend Sam who found this car for me, i was looking for an original XE ghia at a fair price and he sugested i have a look at this thing instead and being an ESP, it has a few extra options over the ghia, he must have given you a call as it takes a couple of days for ford to varify the option 54 code, and i was a bit unsure myself of it being a genuine car, i thought it may have been just a ghia that someone in the eightys had added some esp bits to, so thanks for giveing that info to him mate, was it you he sold that turbo ZL fairlane to? Anyway im sure ill meet you in good time, but thanks for the info again.

Some more pics, i have the console out at the moment just giveing everything a good clean, ill pop some more up when she is all buffed up, cheers for the comments everyone.Attached File  IMG_2323.JPG   87.88KB   141 downloadsAttached File  IMG_2324.JPG   125.42KB   193 downloadsAttached File  IMG_2326.JPG   125.63KB   199 downloadsAttached File  IMG_2327.JPG   125.56KB   188 downloadsAttached File  IMG_2334.JPG   114.52KB   186 downloadsAttached File  IMG_2335.JPG   121.14KB   171 downloadsAttached File  IMG_2336.JPG   91.53KB   133 downloads
