xf oil consumption

hi can anyone tell me do 4.1 xf falcons have high oil consumption i filled it up 2 months ago and its now half empty any help would be great

Bit odd to use that much oil that quick if there is nothing wrong.
Are you blowing smoke?
How does the car run?

even with a leaking rear main seal i never had anything close to that so somethings seriously up. Is there a patch of oil on the ground where you park your car?

mine leaks fast than that. i put oil in mine every maybe, 3 - 4 weeks. mines leaking something shocking through the rear main.

mine leaks fast than that. i put oil in mine every maybe, 3 - 4 weeks. mines leaking something shocking through the rear main.


it'd be cheaper to fix it if its that bad
i think its possible to just take the box out and pull the seal out with a screw and push the new one in.

mine used 1 lit. every 1000 k's, not burning, couldn't find any leaks, so changed to ohc motor problem solved. only changed it cause i needed t5 for the xg though! lol.

hey thank for the reply, it blows a little bit of smoke but not alot (not that noticble) and the engine doesnt leak at all and its had new lifters put in about 3weeks ago. its also running 25w-50 oil.
any ideas what it could be ???

Did you fill it up correctly 2 months ago, maybe it just seems like its losing oil when really it was low to begin with. Do you know how much you put in there? Is it auto or manual?

its ok mate, as soon as my brother gets his old car back together so i can drive it, my car is getting the engine pulled out and im building a brand new engine to go back in. :)

yer, thats im saving my ass off hard core. ill get all the parts at cost price :D good having mates in the auto part industry. the machining of the head and block is going to be the most expensive part.
