Ya can fit all e series cranks to xflows. Most try do 86da blocks cos dont need to machine rear main seal as they are same size.
EF has 12 counter weights, which makes them quite heavy. but well balanced so can take weight from other areas like flywheel and balancer.
I think all other have 8 or 10.

No point as it has the same number of counter weights as a xflow crank.A EF crank is fully counter weighted and slips straight into a 86 da block, every other block needs crank or block machining to suit.

Id like to know why Ford did balance the EF crank and not EL aswell. Did they do it in the B series engine aswell?

I have a 84DA block and am thinkin since im spending all this money and effort anyway, i might try and source an E series crank to shove in xflow, they are cheap as chips anyway. I will almost definately be getting E-series crank ground and definately balanced, so at same time I assume it would be easier to machine the sealing surface of rear main instead of machining block to fit seal. Is the E-series crank sealing surface a larger diameter than the xflow? Anyone know diameter i need to machine E-series crank down to to fit xflow seal?

Good question McQueen,The Au bottom end is off the chain with NVH design.Cross bolted mains and super duty sump and a large weight crank but with only 8 counter weights yet they rev quicker and smoother than a EF EL engine...so they say.The OHC is a much nicer design but the xflow is almost bomb proof.

because they found bugger all benefits for the additional costs, Cant beat a lightened crossflow crank imo, the EF crank is so over rated and most people seem to do it because it sounds good in the list of modifications, or because someone told them they were better. complete waste of time and energy, Not to mention the fact its heavier. Run a good balancer on a balanced and lightened crossflow crank and its all good

Ok figure this out i have stripped 2 el engines in as many weeks and BOTH were 12 counterweight cranks. They were the orig el engines too straight from the cars with matching numbers.
