XC BONnET

What bonnet would bold strate onto my sc sedan... i just got the original one on there for noe.. but i either want to get one that i can cut up and put a scoop on or fnd one with flutes in it.. to keep.. cheers...

get a gs bonnet or a gt bonnet mate off xb or xc. they both will blot stright on

xc and xb bonnets will fit XA will fit i think but will look off i whouldnt put a xa bonnet on coz it will look pretty wired id imagen

i had a look at getting some chrome 12 slotters for mine wih some white wrighting n the tyres.. but found some cheap 18's// i like them.. i need to get some pics... you getting a v8??

i have an XB GS bonnet.. not sure if i want to sell though :lol: seen them go for pretty big $$$ on ebay

this is what an XA GT bonnet looks like just so you know man.. pays to know the different shapes/models out there imo ;)

i belive xa bonnet wont fit without modification, the front edge is different. XB gs/gt bonnet had the scoops and pins, but XC didnt have the lockdown pins from factory, xb and xc are interchangable

XA will fit if you're going to change the whole front over.. but wont if you only want to chuck the bonnet on and nothing else ;)

An XB/XB GT/GS Bonnet WON"T FIT onto an XA I know that, they are 3" (three inches) TOO WIDE, you ahve to chop them up and they still don't really match up after that. And viser-vera an XA bonnet to not wide ENOUGH. You can buy Cobra bulges for the Bonnets (what the Bathurst editions of the XC Cobras had) for about $300-$400 of a web site called www.fomoco.com.au, in the XA XB XC section, then go to the exterior section of that, and look CAREFULLY as there is NO PHOTO.
If you want to save time and/or frusteration I would recomend putting in a XY type shaker like Street Beasts Farther has, they make the standard bonnets look just as nice and you don't have to bother looking around for a decent, or a GS/GT bonnet.
It is VERY possible too that if you get a "GS" bonnet without pns to make it into a GT bonnet, on the same site again there are bonnet pin kits in the same section right near where the Bathurst bulge is. They cost about $100 (the kit and postage), and are a great buy as they make the bonnets look better... And the starndard latches that hold your bonnet down can get a little temperamental and when your driving its possible for your bonnet to pop its self and come open, and when your going 100kmh it is easy to rip ot off your car and break you windscreen and bugger the GS bonnet. Trust me I have SEEN the damnage that this can do.
And the bonnets are hard to repaor once this has happerned becuase its extremely hard to straighten both the bonnet skin and support. You basicly have to cut the scoops out (if they are still any good) and graft them into a standard bonnet.
Another peice of bonnet into is that ALL XB GS and GT bonnets had pins, and ALL XC (apart form the Cobras) did not.
But a standard bonnet with a barthurst bulge and pins would look awsome, and a standard bonnet with an XY type shaker and pins would look awesome too. I was talking to someone a while a ago and they said that it is possible to have a straight 6 and still have a shaker, just a few small modifactions are needed.
The GT/GS bonnets add slightly more performance by keeping your motor cooler, my mate has one on his and ever since he put it on he has NEVER been past half (1/2) way on the temperature guage. So the NASA scoops do work and the XY type it a cold air intake system, but I think that the Cobra Bathurst bugle just bolts on.

oh i'm sorry.. i guess that when i measured both my bonnets i must have mis-read 290mm wide on both bonnets was wrong..

they're the same width.. if you done believe me.. i'll go and take photos ;)

I could be wrong but numourous people have told me that an XB bonnet is 3" too wide and XA 3" too short.

i did say that you'd probably need XA guards as well.. the XA bonnets are a bit shorter, but only by a bee's dick.. the middle is similar lenths but on the side it could possibly be 3 inchs.. width is deffintally the same though as i just re-checked it

i didn't pay much attention because i've always just wanted to throw the XA front on the coupe.. ;)

personally man.. i'm hnot a fan unless you've got something massive under the bonnet aswell.. but thats just my opinion..
