I just thought I would ask the question and see what opinions I get so any feedback would be good.
I've got a fresh 351 cleveland in my xe with the following work;
302 rods,
balanced,
lightened flywheel,
stage 5 crower hyd cam,
roller rockers,
2v heads with 4v valves,
tri-y headers,
2.5" exhaust,
msd ignition,
650 holley vac sec.
I think next i need to get a better manifold as it is still the crappy standard one. can anyone think of anything I could do to improve the combo. also any suggestions of manifold would be much appreciated.

hmmm yeah, go a new manifold, whats the compresion like on that thing, new hicomp piston?
is that a twin 2.5 inch exhasut? isnt 2.5 inch a bit small for a 5.8l
cold air intake system? go a shaker, would be cool

thanks,
pistons are flat top hypertecs. not really sure what the compression is but it has open chamber heads. the bloke i took it to do the machine work told me to use them.
the exhaust is a 2.5" single. the only reason is to keep it a little quieter. it is a street car.
im not too keen to cut a hole in the bonnet so a shaker probably isnt the right way to go for me.
what manifold would you suggest?

I've got a 351 that i just put in, I'm using a Weiand Xcellerator single plane manifold on mine, but another good choice is the Edelbrock Performer Dual plane manifold.

Ive got a twin 2.5, and although its a loud, ive never had a problem with the cops, despite being rbt'd at least 5 times

Here is my exhaust setup.... 2.5" from the pipes then 3" all the way back.

that is a pretty nice setup.
i was curious how to have twin 2.5" setup because there isnt much room past the fuel tank and wheel well

what kind of coin at you looking at for a setup like NO.PSI's?

Maybe you should try a 700dp if you've got a worked clevo my stock clevo runs a 650dp fine. 650vac wouldn't be enough for the engine.

My twin setup does not clear the tyre well and fuel tank, it dumps at the diff. Well about 20cms or so before it.

open chamber heads would be the first thing i'd get rid of, you could run fairly high compression if that cam you have is large, so there is really no need to use open chambers, they typically make an engine feel more dogy too, as the quench is poor.
the myth that closed chambers on a 351 have too much sompression is just that, a myth.

mine was originally a 302 so i had closed chamber heads. when i had the machine work done the bloke said i should use open chamber heads. i did have a set so it wasnt a problem.
how would the higher compression change the way it performs.
as for the carby i was looking at the holley charts and for a 351 it said that a 650 is about right. i think i need a dp though.

more punch and more power, and the chamber shape of the closed chambers is a heap better so the engine will feel better IMO, and take more timing easier than open chambers will. most machine shops suggest open chambers because they think the comp is too high, when you sit down and work it out, its not too high.

i run a weiand xcelerator with a holley 800dp, runs nice and rich but goes really well.

Yep, xelerators seem good alround. Ive heard they work well on very mild motors and are good upto over 400hp. Would be a good choice if you plan more mods and larger cam etc. You could run a 650dp, xelerator, get your heads ported and larger cam, some roller rockers. ALso what ignition system have you got. The spending is endless. LOL. Nice car by the way. Love it.

Sorry MSD ignition. Good stuff.
