I need a little advise on setting up my gas sytem for a turbo 4.1. At the moment ive got twin tanks with each tank going into a single 3/8 line running up to the converter through a VF330 impco vacume lockoff.

I need to know from every ones experience if this setup will support up to 300KW. The converter is a Centuary brand and is quite large in size, the carb is a 420CFM Gasresearch in a blow through setup. The motor is built to run 22psi with forgies, comp ratio is 7.25:1 etc...

just wondering if the setup is good enough, i was previousley running 220KW with old turbo and stuff, all i've done is change the lockoff to the VF330. Also how dose the vacume lock handle boost? i know you have to run a balance line but where? any help would be great.

yes this setup will make you 300kw with a few changes. first, id keep the lines seperate from the tanks, unlet its a big bloody line, to boost reference the lockoff you need to weld a little hose fitting on the diamfram side and hook your hose up. easy and simple to do and you should see your 300 if your motor is set up right, id be ditching that convertor and going twin b2s as well. one line to each from the tanks.

Also what turbo are you running? maybe all you other gear wont support 300kw

turbo/head/cam etc

Are you feeding from both tanks at once?

If you are there is a chanve that if the two tanks are feeding simultaneously that one will feed into another depending upon the tanks size, ideally if they are the same size tanks this wouldnt happen, but IMO you would be better to run one tank feeding one converter with its own lockoff.

The century large converters are good, but having both tanks feeding at once into one lockoff isnt ideal, for the above mentioned reason, I'd suggest you go two VFF30's one on each line, and run two B2's, that will support about 400rwkw at least, the VFF30's flow an absolute heap of gas, the limit will come from the tank outlets as a std outlet is only 220rwkw or so, either way if you feed from both at once and run two converters you will have more gas than you need.

Yeah both tanks are feeding into the one 3/8 line and they are the same size. The tanks them selves dont have lockoffs at the outlet just a tap.

If im going to run twin lines what size should i go for?

my setup is quite simple ive got a snort stage 4 manifold with a 35/40r turbo running .86 housing, custom intake plenum and cooler. Cam is a custom grind from clive cams and ignition is a tricked up dizzy from Ignition tourqe. head has cc'd chambers and larger valves etc....

How come you havent got the 1.06 housing?

.86 would be awsome on the street

True, i wonder what a 1.06 is gonna be like? Looks like i'll have to find out

The reason i went for the .82 housing was that i allready had a 2500 stall convertor. i was worried about the 1.06 being to laggy and not coming up on the converter so the easies thing was to use the .82 and then later on if need i could go to the 1.06.

How exactly do you run a balance line to the vff30 lockoffs and where? i'm guessing that you have to drill and tap a hole on the atmosphere side of the diaphram and connect it to the manifold? am i wrong. i ve decided to run twin lockoffs and lines to each tank so there should be ample amount of gas availiable.

does anyone know what a gt35r with a 1.06 would come on boost roughly?

im guessing at or around 3000rpm

Just put a fitting on the atmo side, and take the signal from the same spot as the converters balance lines, in front of the mixer.

Thats fullboost!! If it is too big I'll just jump down to the .82 rear cover. When do XR6Ts hit FB?

well they make peak torque from 2000 onwards so it would be soon after that id say. but DOHC makes a bit of a difference
