G'day All,
I haven't put this in the LPG section, but maybe I should.
My ute has dual fuel. I wanna get rid of the LPG. Don't get me wrong, good for money saving and all.
The thing is, i'm sick of the little problems... worrying if there is gonna be a carby shattering backfire.
I reckon straight up petrol will be the way to go... big a*se air cleaner and all... more power and only $30-$40 more on fuel per week.
What ya reckon? Am i stupid for thinking this?
Josh.
P.S: Mods, please move if i shoulda put this in the LPG section.

if you are rich then go fuel only
if you spend maybe $200 you might get that carby sorted out and you'll never look back, it probably needs a decent serivce.

fuel is only going to get dearer and if you spend your money properly then you will have just as much power and reliability on LPG. take it to a respected LPG servicer and get them to have a look and quote before you pull it out

I think you'd be better off going for straight LPG and getting rid of the petrol setup personally.

My ute only runs gas now .But i did have a duel fuel ute before this one .I tock the gas off it cos it was out of date and in the way of power streeing .It run so bad that in the end when i was ofterd this ute with only a gas carb on it and less rust i changed utes .For me its one or the other .You can get a gas only car running as well as if not better than a petrol only car .And still cost about half the price to run it .With only running gas you can remove the petrol tank for so much room under the cover plate .I have my spare wheel and full size jack and thats not even half the room in that spot .I am changing mine from the gas carby to a EFI setup soon for better power i am told.

I've thought about going straight gas... i have the tank mounted at the rear under the ute... if i go straight gas... i dont want to be on my way to sydney or something and run out of gas... can i put in a second tank? and where? and if possible, how much?

personally i'd leave it duel fuel, My XE ute had tha gas tank like yours under the car, My XG had a Big 120L tank(90usable) under the back window in the tray, hardly stuck out into the cargo area, i have a pic somewhere. if you ran 2 tanks which can be done it would do many kms on gas. even with that setup you could still run duel fuel, i did test fit a donut tank under the floor where you might have your spare wheel now, it did fit, only about 40 usable litres but at that to the 70 in the back and you've got a fair bit.
i wont ever run straight petrol again, cost to much for the kms i do.
i prefer duel fuel, tuned to gas 100% and use premium petrol which seems happy to run on that tune.
