As you may know, xFalcon.com has been offline since early December. This was confirmed to be due to the hosting account being unpaid. The original owner has been un-contactable by the hosting company and by others, and as such they were moving to shut down and erase the account altogether. An offer was put to the hosting company that if the bill was to be paid, the account could be transferred temporarily to another person. So essentially this is how I have become in possession of the site.
Upon gaining access I seeked to simply get the hosting back up and running in the interim for the time when the real owner returned. However as soon as the hosting came back online, I unexpectedly found the main database to be incomplete / partly corrupted. In other words, unusable in its current state. While I am trying to find if it is even repairable, I have set up these temporary forums for the website users to at least keep contact. I do not know what has happened to Ahmed, however after seeing the condition of the site it would not surprise me if it has been abandoned. Let's hope I'm wrong.
As you can imagine this is rather frustrating. The reasons for my actions are only to make sure the original site data is preserved, with the hope of saving it, or at least holding onto it until Ahmed returns. It is not for my own benefit and the money has indeed come out of my own pocket. I hope this clears up what has been going on for everyone.
Thanks for understanding
Admin / aka. LOWFD

if it site reverts back to the old host etc , will our old usernames be valid again or will we have to reregister like I have just done except I changed my username to the same one I use on other car sites ?

Respect.
Thats a very commendable move mate, i'm sure many of the members here can appreciate what lengths and money you have gone to and spent in recent weeks to keep the community going, regardless of how it looks or what data is kept, as long as there is a place we can all go to have a chat and discuss our problems and issues, we will all be happy.
Cheers,
Ian

I also hope it can.. however things haven't looked good so far.
Although this forum is 'temporary' at the moment, the posts will always be migrated wherever we end up, so for now I hope everyone can use the forum as usual.

Thanks for everything Troy, though I think 'small part' is being a bit modest! If you didn't go digging we'd never have found out why it was down!
MikGan I'll try to sort some stuff out on the weekend and get back to ya, cheers mate.

I'm still curious to find out what happened, why things ended up like they did, we've heard one side of the story, but not the other yet, that will be very interesting...

try to keep an open mind, these things are generally self caring, and the old blokes never really did anything to contravine their 'top bloke' status

Agreed, I am keeping an open mind, and from what I've read about the web hosting company, well, lets just say I doubt they were without fault entirely.

sorry mate? what logo? every image on this site was created from scratch by me, or did i make something extremely similar to what you have done before? :)
if you mean the red xfalcon badge, it was created from a standard ford logo i downloaded off the internet, changed from red to blue and added the text.

Yes I also chatted (briefly) to Ahmed, however not long enough to resolve anything. He is no doubt busy with something and on the day in question I was also moving house so we seemed to keep missing each other just.
Mikgan has the database and is checking that out, but has said so far things are not looking good for it.
Anyway soon as there are any developments rest assured I will post them up here.

A bit of quick news for you all - In the last few days we have moved the site to a more reliable hosting company and have managed to sort out some of the ownership issues with Ahmed. Unfortunately in the process 2 or 3 days worth of forum activity was lost, however considering we are starting again with the forum, it's a small price to pay.
Thankyou for your patience!

Some more news,
We will be transferring to new forum software sometime in February - vBulletin. When the time comes, all information from this forum will be transferred across. The xFalcon.com Gallery will stay untouched, however it will once again hook up with the new forum software and continue working as usual.

Since some ISP's still haven't updated with the new DNS information, some users still can not access the site. User numbers are lower because of this however within a few days all of them will have updated.

people on broadband (ADSL & cable) may be required to turn their modems on and off so their IP/DNS info is updated.

Thanks for getting site back up and running sean, troy and others. I was almost out of xfalcon patches, having withdrawals.
Got a quick question, compared to other sites that i frequently use, this one seems to be a bit slow on response. Does this have anything to do with the changes.

on this software sent messages are not saved by default. however you can select 'save a copy in my outbox' if you wish.
vbulletin has it, so just put up with this in the interim time :)
